GypSorb – Sound Absorbing Perforated Gypsum Board Technical Information
Ensure perfect acoustics and design with 100% recyclable perforated gypsum products
The base of Sound Absorbing Perforated Gypsum Board, is gypsum. Gypsum is a natural mineral, which is fully recyclable, and it retains its properties for decades. By perforating gypsum tiles, we give our product their acoustic function and aesthetic character, creating a contemporary, monolithic look, while still maintaining gypsum’s superior qualities as a building material.
The versatility and flexibility of gypsum allow for design experimentation and creative solutions to fulfill any architectural design ideas. Most importantly, perforated gypsum supports sound absorption and diffusion in all sound frequencies as well as contributes to a good and healthy indoor climate with its inherent air cleaning qualities.

- Sonus and Strata:
Painting
- GypSorb acoustic panels can be painted without losing their acoustic and air cleaning properties. Being able to paint them adds continuity with other interior design features and themes. Also painted GypSorb acoustic panels are more washable and can be painted over and over if necessary. To repaint we recommend a short nap roller and not spraying. Spraying impairs the sound absorption properties.
GypClean Air Cleaning
- GypClean Technology is derived from a natural volcanic rock called Zeolite. GypSorb Sonus/Strata/Stratum panel contains zeolite which absorbs and eliminates a host of environmental air pollutants including VOCs such as formaldehyde. As the air streams through the perforations in the GypSorb Sonus/Strata/Stratum panel, unpleasant pollutants are removed, leaving the air cleaner. And the GypClean effect continues to improve air quality long after installation. Read More…

Did you know gypsum/sheet rock/drywall is recyclable?
Why Recycle?
- Reduce landfill debris and can degrade back into composting soil
- Conservation of resources and energy
- Environmental and land reclamation benefits
- Cost savings in producing new gypsum board and cement
- Promoting sustainability
- Contribution to LEED certification for green building projects
- Job creation
4 Easy Ways to Recycle Gypsum Materials
Removed and scrap gypsum materials can be stacked outside and does not need to stay dry.
- Stack removed and/or damaged materials neatly on pallets until enough is accumulated then contact a recycler near you for a pick up.
- Stack removed and/or damaged materials on pallets until enough is accumulated then deliver to a recycler near you.
- Recyclers can deliver a roll off container to your facility and swap it when filled.
- Distributors can further serve their customers by offering to accept scraps from construction sites and transferring them to a qualified recycling center.
Here are a couple of recycling options.
Search for or call your local trash collection company for references near you.
